SRT to WebVTT Converter

Paste SRT subtitles below, convert them to WebVTT, and copy the result. The main differences: WebVTT starts with WEBVTT, uses a dot instead of a comma in timestamps, and drops the numeric cue numbers.

How to convert SRT to WebVTT

  1. Paste your SRT text into the box above.
  2. Click Convert to WebVTT. The tool adds the WEBVTT header, changes commas to dots in timestamps, and removes cue numbers.
  3. Copy the result and save it as a .vtt file, or upload it directly to your video platform.

To go the other way, paste WebVTT text and click Convert to SRT. The tool restores cue numbers and comma timestamps.

Common questions

Why does WebVTT use dots? The WebVTT timestamp format is HH:MM:SS.mmm, while SRT uses HH:MM:SS,mmm. Players that expect WebVTT will reject comma timestamps.

Do I need to keep the cue numbers? No. WebVTT cues work without numbers; most players ignore them if present, but clean output is safer.
